A family's patterns of behavior profoundly influence the individual.  In individual, couple and family therapy, the unit of treatment isn't just the person - even if only one individual is counseled - it is the set of relationships in which a person is embedded. Samples of research on these family and marital realities can be found here.

Energy psychology, specifically Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), gently and swiftly releases traumatic events that are frozen in time in the body-mind system. Milton Erickson developed a kind of hypnosis that addresses issues on an emotional level rather than cognitively. Hypnosis, simply stated, is the art of suggestion. The process of change is based on creating a new emotional meaning that allows an individual to see the world in a profoundly different way and make changes such as smoking cessation.

Mediation is a voluntary settlement process by which two or more parties agree to attempt to settle their differences with the assistance of a neutral third party, or mediator.
